The Electrical Engineering department of the USPF was established in 1930, as part of the College of Engineering in order to provide immediate additional electrical professionals in our domestic, local, and for the world at large.
Mission Statement
To produce sterling and highly capable electrical engineers who are adept in the utilization of electrical energy sources through modern knowledge in power production system engineering and management for the betterment of the nation and the global society
Educational Objectives
The department aims to provide:
- proficient knowledge to our graduates equipping them with the essential capabilities needed to face the challenges of their future endeavors.
- much needed skills to our graduates that will prepare them for the future job that they will undertake.
- statistical capabilities to enable them to conduct research in their field of specialization and other areas where it is required.
- good command of language to allow them to communicate properly and proficiently.
Program Description
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
After several years of completion of the program, the graduates are expected to demonstrate the following:
- mastery of knowledge, techniques, skills in modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice,
- develop one’s professional, social and ethical responsibility and relate these to professional goals,
- capability in conducting experiments, design, project study/research whether independently or as part of the group,
- capability in demonstrating global competitiveness in his/her field of specialization to his/her global work environment,
- work effectively in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams, and
- engage in life-long learning and an understanding of the need to keep current of the developments in the specific field of practice.
Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs)
By the time of graduation, the students of the program shall have the ability to:
- Apply knowledge of mathematics and science to solve complex mechanical engineering problems;
- Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data;
- Design a system, component, or process to needs desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, heal and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability, in accordance with standards;
- Function effectively on multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams that establish goals, plan tasks, and meet deadlines;
- Identify, formulate and solve complex problems in electrical engineering;
- Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering practice;
- Communicate effectively with a range of audiences;
- Understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context;
- Recognize the need for additional knowledge and engage in lifelong learning;
- Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the field of electrical engineering
- Apply techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for electrical engineering practice, and
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of engineering and management principles as a member and/or leader in a team to manage project in multidisciplinary environments.
