Community Extension Services

Brief History

The Community Extension Services (CES) office provides community-based services and outreach from the University of Southern Philippines Foundation and all its constituent departments to the adopted communities.
Focusing on the needs of the community, these programs include community outreach programs, health education campaigns, capacity-building workshops, livelihood and job readiness training courses, and environmental sustainability initiatives.
These services are designed to improve the quality of life for individuals and communities by providing them with the necessary tools and resources to address their unique challenges and opportunities.
The primary goal of CES is to establish strong and lasting relationships between the University and the communities they serve, while simultaneously advancing research, knowledge, and innovation in areas that are important to both the University and the community.

Overview

PROGRAM PRINCIPLES and DEVELOPMENT PARADIGM
“Development is the ability of the people
to shape their own lives.”
Our development paradigm is PARTICIPATORY DEVELOPMENT. This rests in the belief that people, if provided with the appropriate information for consciousness-raising, will be able to discern their true situation. Using their capacities, strengths, and resources, they can initiate changes, sustain these, and be in control of their lives.
Thus, in the implementation of programs and projects, our partner individuals, groups, and communities are active participants in needs assessment and planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. This will ensure that their project management skills are constantly sharpened and that even in the absence of development partners such as the University, they will continuously be able to manage projects that are needs-based and sustainable
Global, national, and local realities, as well as international and local development goals, are considered in coming up with responsive activities and projects. Special attention is given to vulnerable groups and concerns such as children, women, elderly, persons with disabilities, indigenous people, the environment, and peace promotion.
